The new Manitoba Non-Profit Housing Association (MNPHA) has opened its doors to build, support and strengthen the non-profit and affordable housing sector. After years of discussion and support from Manitoba Housing a Board of Directors has been put together to begin the process of building its membership.

 

Menno Peters from Winnipeg Housing & Rehabilitation Corporation has taken the lead as President of the new association. He believes the MNPHA makes for the opportunity to finally connect all of the interested parties and build a strong foundation for the future successes of affordable housing providers and their supports. Laurie Socha from S.A.M. (Management) Inc., Laura Devlin from Riverside Lions Estates, Kay Garrity from Fred Douglas Place Inc., Lawrence Poirier from Kinew Housing Inc., Joanne Schmidt from Bethel Place, James Friesen from Eden Health Care Services (Winkler),Karl Falk from DSI Tandem Co-op Resources Ltd. and Glen Kruck from the Westman Canadian Mental Health Association (Brandon) make up a Board of Directors with passion and a wealth of knowledge and experience. Dianna Mae Hocaluk has been hired as MNPHA’s Executive Director, she too is a non-profit housing provider at Eveline Place Inc. (Selkirk).

 

The MNPHA Board and staff are committed to developing a membership to connect all affordable housing providers across the Province and bring them together to share experiences, ideas and costs to benefit our sector.

 
The MNPHA is currently developing its first Annual Conference & Gala Dinner November 22 & 23, 2012 at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Conference Centre.
