Members of the MNPHA Board of Directors met with Deputy Minister of Families, Jay Rodgers, along with Steven Spry and Brian Brown of Manitoba Housing on April 19. The meeting was meant to acquaint the Deputy Minister with MNPHA’s mission to support our members to build a thriving, sustainable non-profit housing sector in Manitoba.
Issues discussed with the Deputy Minister included the great need for capital funding for repairs and renovations of existing stock, including for those providers whose operating agreements have expired; the pilot projects to transfer housing assets from the province to the non-profit sector; and the need to increase the rent supplement program while maintaining Rent Assist.
DM Rodgers was well informed on affordable housing issues and invited the MNPHA Board to schedule regular updates with him.
