Clarification on Proof of Income Requirements from MB Housing
MNPHA has been approached by several direct service organizations regarding clarification about whether the Option C is in fact required by Manitoba Housing for the purpose of annual income verification of residents and/or confirming housing eligibility in subsidized properties. Both housing providers and those who provide support to participants looking for housing advised that the Option C can provide significant barriers because of the time it takes to obtain and the potential difficulty for some tenants to access it.
Manitoba Housing’s Policy Manual (Manitoba Housing Rental Housing Programs Policy Manual) makes it clear that if a recipient is in receipt of EIA, a budget letter will suffice. MNPHA met with Manitoba Housing and requested clarification on this matter, with the intent of reducingbarriers for housing providers, participants and direct service providers.
